I know what it feels like to wake up with an upset stomach! It ruins
One weekly strategy to support your gut flora
We have all heard about the gut flora, which is this collection of bacteria that live inside the intestines. A healthy gut flora is all about more good bacteria than the bad ones.
One crucial element in supporting a healthy flora is dietary diversity: 30 plants a week!
Your bacteria need to get fed from different food compounds (I am not saying to get them all in one sitting, that would be very upsetting for the stomach).
The higher the diversity in your diet, the more diverse your nutritional profile which mean you are feeding different profiles of bacteria, each with their own role in looking after us every day.
The diversity diet is a weekly strategy with the objective of reaching 30 types of plants in one week. It is literally the more the merrier. One type of food counts as one, so if you eat 3 apples in one week, this counts as 1 not 3.
Reaching 30 is easier than you think. Plants are abundant, and include veggies, fruits, grains, herbs, spices, pulses, nuts and seeds. Here is a list of around 20 types of food that we can easily attain: Cucumber, tomatoes, spinach, zaatar, sesame, olive oil, brown rice, oats, quinoa, mint, radish, sumac, almonds, sunflower seeds, lentils, chickpeas, apples, strawberries, mangoes.
